A multicenter, retrospective, cross-sectional analysis of fresh and processed Vitis vinifera (grape) ingestion in dogs and cats — Cats
peer-reviewed
Retrospective records study (abstract only) · Fruit (fresh and processed) · Emergency-clinic records of 1,030 probable (suspected or confirmed) grape/raisin ingestions in UK cats, 2018–2024; 11.8% of these cats died, versus 0.9% of dogs. The abstract does not show grapes caused each death, so this is shown as caution, not toxic.
Vitis vinifera ingestion is common in canine emergency presentations and less frequent but more fatal in felines.
