Source scales are different
Tortoise Trust: red text plus an asterisk (*) = 'credible cases where mortality has been reported following consumption'; a listed plant without an asterisk is still on the Trust's toxic-plant list but its 'exact degree of toxicity is not known in many cases'; some may be safely eaten in small or moderate quantities but may be fatal in large doses.
The Tortoise Table uses a different scale: Feed freely / in moderation / sparingly / do not feed. Do not mix these scales.
WHRS Class 1: universal species toxins (usually systemic or intense local toxins; do not expose). Class 2: local toxins (allergens, dermal-sensitivity toxins, or systemic toxins of lesser strength; use caution). Class 3: low-risk plants (low-level toxins, or toxins that herbivores like rabbits handle better; some historically considered toxic are being re-evaluated).
Each verdict links to the original page and preserves the source excerpt.
